English Year 4 1st term 21-22

Dear families,

This first term we have started the English lessons revising class routines, such as writing the date, talking about the weather and about how we feel.

At the beginning of the year we talked about how we would like to be if we were superheroes, what superpowers and skills we would like to acquire. When we started the first TAGA El Pas del Temps, we learned how to tell the time, from digital and analog clocks, while talking about what we did during the day. When we finished writing about our daily routines, we added the clocks with the time we did each activity. Finally, we played a game where we had to match the different written hours with the clocks, putting together the ice cream balls with the cones.

In Autumn, we worked on the Halloween song “In a dark house”, while revising the Halloween vocabulary expressions, playing in learning stations and with a Escape Room.

We have learnt, too, which are some of the English Speaking Countries and where they are on a map, as well as some of their flags. We have also learnt about the different time zones, and by the use of maps we found out what is the time in different cities working out the time difference.

We learned about the UK, reading the story “The Queen’s Hat”, where we saw the main landmarks in London. We put together lots of information and now we have our own English speaking countries passport, with the first stamp on it!

When Christmas came around, we learnt the song Candy Cane Lane, and we revised the Christmas vocabulary and traditions by opening our online advent calendar, where we found a different activity each day. Finally, we celebrated Christmas Jumper Day in school, and we designed our own Christmas jumper while collaborating with a local solidarity campaign.
